Hi Gang! Today we were anchored in The Maldives and tendered to the port of Male. The Maldives, officially the Republic of Maldives, and historically known as the Maldive Islands, is an archipelago in South Asia, located in the Indian Ocean, near the southeastern boundary of the Arabian Sea.
Male is the capital and most populous city of the Maldives, located at the edge of the North Male Atoll. It is a densely packed urban hub known for its high rises, colorful streets, bustling markets, and cultural landmarks like the 17th century Friday Mosque.
Today we did a Regent excursion called “City of Male – Walking Tour”. We walked from the port to all these locations which were the Public Square, the Islamic Centre, the Tomb Medhuziyaraly, the Hakuru Miskiiy Munnaaru, the Jumhooree Maidhaan, the Presidential Palace & Presidents official residence, the Sultan Park, the National Museum, and the Fish Market & Fruit Market. Whew… we saw a lot… but well worth it and found it to be an amazing city!
Since we didn’t anchor until 11:30, as true gamers, we even had time to get a morning passenger game in and win a Regent point! We got back on the boat around 3:30 and chilled for the afternoon. I’ll do another update tonight.
