World Cruise – Regent Seven Seas Mariner – 154 Days – Colombo, Sri Lanka – Day 97 – Final Pics!

Thursday April 16, 2026

Hi All! We were docked in Colombo, Sri Lanka today, our last day in Sri Lanka. Colombo is the capital of Sri Lanka and sits on the Indian Ocean along the west coast and has a population of 5.6 million people. Even though it’s that big, we found it to be a very clean city.

Our tour today was called “Capture the Moment – Colombo” and we really enjoyed it. The first part was a panoramic bus tour and walking tour seeing places like a local farmer’s market, the Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque, a Hindu Temple, the old railroad station, the Colombo Town Hall as well as a city park. But probably the two craziest things we saw were a snake charmer and a guy holding a tiny baby monkey!

We then boarded our own private Tuk-Tuk (think kinda golf cart) to be driven around the city. Our driver was nice and his name was Muhammed Ali but told us to call him Cassius Clay! Too funny!! We stopped by the Racehorse Complex (now a Cricket field), Independence Square, and an urban park. The Tuk Tuk drives were really fun but a little scary since we were driving pretty fast in and out of traffic!

We then got back onboard and had a late lunch. It was again very hot today so we just chilled for the late afternoon. Nap time! We then got ready for dinner. Tonight we had dinner again with Phyllis and Rick along with their friend Candy. Candy’s husband Walt left today for an overland trip to Nepal. It was so nice getting to know all three of them so much better.

We ate at Compass Rose and had another great meal. I had both the Chicken & Vegetable Spring Roll as well as the Beef Consommé for my appetizers. For my main I had the Dover Sole. I actually skipped dessert tonight! Sorry no food pics!

After dinner we went to one of our favorite shows by the Regent Singers and Dancers named Blazing Boots. It’s all country music and great dancing. This was the new dancer Zack’s first show and he did great. He just joined in Singapore and replaced Neil who had to leave due to an injury. Like I’ve said before, this is probably the fifth time we’ve seen this show but go every time to support our friends and because we love the music!

After the show we called it a night since we leave tomorrow for our Taj Mahal overland tour in India and have to get packed. So excited to visit India for the first time! Hope everyone had a great day!
