Hi Folks! We’re not at the Taj Mahal yet but we’re getting close! Today was the start of our 3 day overland tour to the Taj (we’re on a first name basis now! Lol). We docked in the port town of Cochin, India and left the ship at around Noon. We took three buses (there are approx 55 people doing the overland) to the Cochin airport which took about an hour and 20 minutes.
We got all checked in at the airport and got thru security with no problem (whew!). Regent had bag lunches for all of us with a very spicy chicken wrap, some kind of potato thingy, a bunch of mini bananas, a bottle of water and a very, rich chocolate brownie. Yummy! They even let you take bottles of water thru security (Did you hear that TSA?).
Our flight was fairly smooth but longer than we thought at 3 hrs and 20 mins. I guess India is a pretty big country! They actually fed us a hot meal (Did you hear that American Airlines?) and man was the chicken spicy again! Why is the food so spicy here?? My good friend Jeremy would know that!
We flew from Cochin to Delhi and we landed safely and got all our luggage (the most important thing!). They then drove us by bus to our hotel (The Hotel LaLit) which was about an hour away. We got all checked in around 9:30 and then had dinner at 10 PM.
They had a huge buffet for us and the food was very good (and not as spicy!). After dinner we crashed since we have an early day tomorrow. Hope everyone had a great day!
