Hi Gang! Happy TGIFriday! Today we were docked in Kobe, Japan but we did a 10 hour tour to Kyoto. It was a long day but a fun day. We did this private tour with our three friends from Canada that we did a few other tours with. We had a private driver and van that took us all over the Kyoto area, which was about a 1.5 hour drive from Kobe.
We went to six different places which were the Kimono Forest, famous for its kimono fabric-wrapped pillars, the serene Bamboo Forest of Arashiyama, the Kinkaku-ji Golden Pavilion, renowned for its stunning reflecting pool, the Nishi-Ki Market where we had a lunch of pork, noodles, shrimp tempura and egg, the Gion District with Tea Houses and Geishas (but no Geishas today!), and Fushimi Inari Taisha renowned for its thousands of vibrant red Torii Gates that wind thru the sacred mountain shrine.
Whew… that was a lot! Oh and we also saw lots of rickshaw drivers taking tourists around in downtown Kyoto. I’m tired so I’ll just let the pictures do the talking. We got back late so we just ordered room service and chilled. Sadly that was our last port day. Tomorrow is a sea day and Sunday we’re back in Tokyo to fly home. It’s been over a month but the time has flown by! Hope everyone had a great day!
