HAL Westerdam – 33 day Japan/South Korea – Day 4 – Tokyo – Pics Part 1!

Oct 10, 2026

Hi Gang! Our second full day in Tokyo did not disappoint and neither did our tour guide Yoshi! He went a little easier on us than Hiro and only had us walking 10 miles! But it was so fun. I wish we had planned to spend a week here! But with all this walking, we’re looking forward to a little rest and relaxation on the ship starting tomorrow!

Just like yesterday we covered a lot of ground and Yoshi whisked us thru the thousands of people in the metro stations like Moses parting the Red Sea! Here is a list of all the places we saw:

Asakusa area, Nakamise shopping street, Sensoji Temple, Kan’ei-Ji Buddhist Temple, a cherry blossom tree (the Fall/Winter ones), Yushima Temple, Ueno Park, Meiji-Jingu Temple, Harajuka area, Takeshita Street, Ometesando area, the Shibuya area and the crazy Shibuya crossing (hundreds of people crossing the intersection at one time!), the statue of Hachiko (the loyal Akita dog who waited at Shibuya Station for his deceased owner every day for over nine years!), a Pokémon store (for the grand kids!), a beautiful sunset over the city as well as a clear shot of Mount Fuji at sunset.

Whew, that was a lot again today! Then after a brief rest at the hotel, we went to see this Japanese cultural dance festival that was just 5 minutes from our hotel. It was so cool. We then called it a night. I’ll let all the pictures do the talking.

We board the ship tomorrow morning and sail away at 7 PM. Hope everyone had a great day! We did!!

PS: I had so many pictures, I broke it up into two updates!

PSS: Yoshi took us to his favorite restaurant and the food was excellent!
