Hi All! We were docked in Wrangell, Alaska today which is actually our last Alaskan port of the cruise. Can you believe it?? Heck, that was fast. But we do have one more sea day and a stop in Victoria, British Columbia still. So we ain’t done having fun yet!
This is the first time we’ve been to Wrangell so it was fun to explore. It’s a really small port town and is probably what Alaska was like years ago. They said it was first occupied over 8,000 years ago. That’s old!
So we did our usual fun expedition and rented a car and traveled “out the road” as the locals call it. Most of our driving was on gravel roads used by the local US Forest Service personnel but also lots of hunters. Since deer season started Aug 1st!
And we did see something pretty wild while driving. Up ahead on the road we saw a guy on his ATV all dressed in chamo gear with a shotgun strapped across his chest (YIKES!). So we stop and look over into the woods and see this huge deer. Then… BANG… he just shot that deer and we watched it drop. Crazy!
I didn’t include that pic! But we did see several deer (no bears) and lots of beautiful scenery. We were back onboard by 5 PM. I’ll do another update tonight.
