World Cruise – Regent Seven Seas Mariner – 154 Days – Maputo, Mozambique, Africa – Day 113 – Pics Part 1!

Saturday May 2, 2026

Hi Folks! We are in mainland Africa! Specifically we were docked in Maputo, the capital of the country of Mozambique. Its history dates back to the 18th century when it was founded by Portuguese traders.

We had a 10:45 AM tour called “A Glimpse of Maputo”. We drove first to the Maputo Railway Station, an impressive building that dates back to the early 20th century and is known for its distinctive architecture, which combines Art Nouveau and Moorish styles, and is considered one of the most beautiful railway stations in the world. We also visited the Train Station Museum while there.

We then drove to the Central Market, a bustling open-air market that sells a wide range of goods including fresh produce, clothing, handicrafts, and local cuisine. What a fun market!

We then drove to Independence Square, the City Council Building, the Cathedral, the Iron House, and the Tunduru Botanical Gardens. After that we went to the Feima Market and visited there. Then we went to the Maputo Fort. Whew… we covered a lot of Maputo!

We were back on the ship by around 3 PM and chilled for the afternoon. We then got ready for dinner. I’ll do another update tonight.
