World Cruise – Regent Seven Seas Mariner – 154 Days – Mayotte, French Comoros – Day 110 – Pics Part 1!

Wednesday April 29, 2026

Hi Folks! Today we were anchored off of Mayotte. Mayotte is an overseas department and region of France located in the Indian Ocean, situated in the Comoros Archipelago between Madagascar and the mainland African country of Mozambique. It consists of two main islands, Grande-Terre and Petit-Terre and is known for the world’s third largest barrier-reef-lagoon complex.

We tendered over to the capital city of Mamoudzou, located on Grand-Terre. The island voted against independence from France in 1974, leading to its current status as a French territory. That’s why everyone spoke French. Oui oui!

Our tour today was very early (7 AM!) but very nice. It was called “Lagoon and Beach Adventure by Boat”. We started out with a boat ride out to the barrier-reef-lagoon area and near some beautiful little islands. After that we went over to this private island with a nice beach and amazing views. The island is volcanic so there were lots of black volcanic rock near the shore but the sand was very soft.

We had about an hour and a half to swim and snorkel. They even set up a breakfast table with juice, coffee, tea and lots of goodies. They had brownies, muffins, and cakes. Must have been from a French bakery because they were very tasty! Oui Oui!

We then rode back to the pier. I took the tender boat back to the ship while Kathy stayed to shop. I was back on the boat by 11:30 AM, just in time for lunch! You know with a cruise you’re on two hour feedings! We then chilled for the afternoon and got ready for the brand new Variety show put on by the entertainment team. I’ll write about that later tonight!

PS: We even snuck in an afternoon passenger game of Top Toss and won one Regent point!
