World Cruise – Regent Seven Seas Mariner – 154 Days – Madagascar, Africa – Day 109 – Pics Part 1!

Tuesday April 28, 2026

Hi All! We are anchored off of Madagascar and specifically off the island of Nosy Be. Nosy Be is a small island located off the northwest coast of Madagascar. Yes, Madagascar is part of Africa and is located in the Indian Ocean, approximately 250 miles off the southeastern coast of mainland Africa. It is the world’s fourth largest island and over 90% of their wildlife is endemic, meaning it is found nowhere else on Earth. That’s crazy!

Today we did an excursion called “Highlights of Eastern Nosy Be”. After our tender boat ride to the pier, we drove to the Marodoka old village, the first village of the island dating from 800 AD. We watched a folk performance dance.

We then drove to the Lemuria Land Park and saw lemurs and other reptiles. It was amazing and the highlight of the whole trip. Those lemurs are so darn cute! They were very active and playful. I dedicated a whole set of pics just to them in the final update. Wish I could have taken one home with us!

After that we drove to a local hotel for some refreshments and to spend time on the beach. We then drove to a souvenir shop (look out grandkids!) for some shopping. We were back on the ship by 4:30 PM. But we were tired so we just ordered room service.

We went to the show at 9:30 PM. He was a comedian named Paul Adams. When I heard the name I thought it sounded familiar and it was! We saw him last summer on our Wild British Isles cruise. He was very funny and we enjoyed his show (Again!).

After the show we crashed since we have a 7 AM excursion tomorrow. Yikes! No rest for the weary. But we’re excited to be on Mayotte, in the French Comoros. Another new place we’ve never been! Hope everyone had a great day!
