World Cruise – Regent Seven Seas Mariner – 154 Days – Safari, Kruger National Park, South Africa – Day 116 – Pics Part 1!

Tuesday May 5, 2026

Hi Folks! We had our first early morning safari game drive today and it was amazing! Have you noticed I’ve been using that “amazing” word a lot lately? We really are living the dream! (Well, accept for the 5 AM wake up call! Lol).

We left our room (or should I say “train car”) at 5:30 AM and were back for breakfast by 8:30 AM. We saw the following in this order: Hyena, Giraffes, Zebras, a White headed vulture, a White back vulture, an Elephant high up on a rock, Kudus, a Herd of Elephants, a Male Lion ( I got his back but our friend got a great shot I’ll try to post tonight or tomorrow), a Mongoose, and Baboons. We also saw a few cool birds.

We came back and had a delicious breakfast that included cold items from a buffet as well as hot items cooked to order. I had the Eggs Benedict that were to die for. After leaving breakfast and heading back to our “train car”, we saw a Water Buffalo lounging out in the Sabie River under the bridge. So cool!

Speaking of cool, I so wanted to take a plunge in the round plunge pool that sits on the bridge over the Sabie River but decided a nap was in order. That 5 AM came around too quick! I’ll again let the pictures do the talking and post another update tonight. Due to all the pics I broke this update in two!
