Hi gang! We made it to Antigua and we LOVED It! The people were so friendly, the beaches are beautiful and having a killer sunset cruise at the end didn’t hurt! I’m not going to write too much today (I think my blog has been getting a little long!) and will let the pictures tell the story.
We took a great tour around the island with Gregory who we had set up ahead of time. He shared that originally the island was named Wadadli by the indigenous people. Then Columbus came and named it Antigua, after the word antique, since he felt the island looked old. Also, most people refer to this area as Antigua & Barbuda since they are sister islands. We were in St John’s today which is the capitol of Antigua.
After the tour we got showered and changed to do our sunset cruise on a catamaran. We had a really nice time. The weather was perfect and the sunset did not disappoint. One of the most interesting things was all these goats we saw along a rock face. They said the goats come there every night since it’s the last place to get the sun and the rocks are warm. There were several baby goats and they were so cute!
After the sunset cruise we got cleaned up and went to dinner. Once again the meal was excellent. After dinner we listed to some live music and called it a night.
Tomorrow we go to St Kitts/Nevis but we’ll spend most of the day at their private island area called Carambola Beach. Hope everyone had a great Monday to start off their week!
