Hi gang. So excited to be getting on a plane and heading across the pond. (Dr Fauci said Covid was over, right??) First stop – Heathrow airport in London!
So I have to begin this travel story with some background on how I got here. To be honest, I really wasn’t planning an international trip even just a couple months ago but back around mid March, I met this amazing woman named Kathy that is an American Airlines flight attendant that loves to travel as much as I do. The more we got to know each other, she shared this bucket list trip that she was going on and asked me to join her. I said.. me?? go to Europe??? And see the Fjords of Norway which are rated as some of the most beautiful scenery in the world??? Sure, I’ll go!! So how lucky am I?
For a quick background, a fjord is a long, narrow arm of the sea with steep sides, carved by glacial activity. Norway contains some of the longest, deepest, and most beautiful fjords in the world. In a survey conducted by National Geographic Traveler Magazine the fjords of Norway were selected as the number one unspoiled travel spot from a list of 115 destinations around the world. So not too shabby!
Now on to today’s travel. We plan to get to Charlotte airport and get our free parking (perk of traveling with a flight attendant!) and have plenty of time to catch one of the two non-stop flights to London arriving early morning on Friday. We’re flying “Non-Rev” – Kathy flys free and I pay a small fee (another perk!).
Hopefully the flight will be smooth and we can get some sleep. More to come after we get to Heathrow! Hold the fort down in the USA while we’re gone!
Here’s a few pics of the fjords to whet your appetite (and mine!) of pics to come! And no, in that first pic, you won’t see me on top of that ledge! Yikes!
