London/Paris Trip – 2014

This is a summary of the trip I took with my daughter to both London and Paris. This was her high school graduation present. We flew to London and spent a week there then took the “chunnel” (train tunnel under the English channel) to Paris and spent a week there. In London, we happened to catch the celebration of the Queen’s Birthday. They call it “Trooping of the Colour” and there are all kinds of parades and fireworks and festivities to honor the Queen. It was an amazing spectacle. We even got to see Kate Middleton and Prince Harry in the parade as well as the Queen and her husband (pics included). We had a great hotel where every morning they offered “eggs, bacon and beans” as their breakfast so I had to include a pic (it was yummy!). We took a day trip to Windsor Castle and really enjoyed that. Also did a day trip to Wembley stadium and took the tour. That’s where the NFL plays their games twice a year. In Paris we saw all the traditional stuff like the Eiffel Tower, the Louve Museum (Mona Lisa), Notre Dame Cathedral and ate lots and lots of chocolate eclairs! We also found Harry Potter’s “Track 9 3/4!” We also did a day trip to the town of Reims where most of the French champagne is made. We took tours thru a couple underground cellars where they stored all the champagne. Very interesting! And the town itself was really cute and nice to walk around. Another day trip was to the palace of Versailles which is probably the largest palace in the world. Just breathtaking! It was a great trip. Enjoy!
