Hi Folks! We were docked in Langkawi, Malaysia today. Our tour was called “Highlights & Cable Car” and while it was hot again (would do we expect when we’re practically on the equator?? Lol) this tour was only 4 hours so a little easier on the body!
The tour really went to two places. First we went to the Rice Garden where they showed us how they planted rice and harvested rice. We did get to see some water buffalos that they use to haul the rice and plow the fields. We also went thru the rice museum (who knew there was a rice museum??) and learned about all the different types of rice.
We then drove to the Cable Car station and rode it up to the top of Mount Machincang at 2,315 feet. The views of the Bay Area were astounding. They had lots of those “locks of love” on the fence up there as well. We then rode the cable car back down to the base station. There was lots of shopping there as well as these cute monkeys called Dusky Leaf Monkeys. Wish we could have brought one home for the grandkids!
We got back to the ship in the late afternoon and got ready for our World Cruise event. At 6:30 PM they had a Dim Sum dinner (a large range of small Chinese dishes) and deck party under the stars at the pool grill. Since it was exclusively for world cruisers (about 150 of us) it was fun catching up with everyone. And the Dim Sum was delicious!
After dinner we went to the show which was a Guest Entertainer named Monique Lualhati. She’s from the Philippines and her show was called “The Voice of the Philippines” and she sang songs from Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Aretha Franklin, Adele and Tina Turner. Wow, what a voice and what a great show!
After the show we called it a night since we have an early excursion tomorrow. We’re back in Thailand tomorrow in the port of Phuket. Can’t wait since it’s another new city for us! Hope everyone had a great day!
PS: We change the clocks and gain an hour sleep tonight! YAY!!
