Hi Gang! Well we went to the Rain Forest today and guess what?? It rained! Lol. But we also got to see Waterfalls, Koala Bears, Kangaroos and lots of other animals. It was a fun day!
We were docked in the town of Cairns, Australia, which calls itself the gateway to the Rain Forest and the Great Barrier Reef. Some people on our cruise ship did an excursion to the Reef today.
Our excursion did a tour around Cairns, went to the town of Kuranda Village and took the Sky Rail across the top of the Rain Forest. Kuranda Village was a cute little town which had tons of shops and also had the Koala Sanctuary.
We walked around there for a while, did a little shopping but spent most of our time at the Koala Sanctuary. Those little buggers are so cute. They say they sleep a lot but when we were there they were quite active. But we did catch one taking a nap!
We then boarded the Sky Rail which took us over the Barron Gorge National Park and Rain Forest to a height of 1,800 feet. We saw the Barron Falls waterfall, lots of dense rain forest and the wispy fog around the mountains. Just glad that cable car didn’t drop!
We then took the bus back to the ship and got ready for dinner. I’ll do another update tonight. Hope everyone’s having a great day!
