Hi Folks! We were in the beautiful city of Auckland, New Zealand again today. It was a “turn over” day where lots of people (I heard 150?) got off and the same number of new people boarded. Maybe some future passenger game players??
The last segment was from Tahiti to Auckland and Regent called it “Beauty in Southern Seas” and we traveled over 3,000 nautical miles! Our next segment is from Auckland to Bali (Benoa) in Indonesia and Regent calls it “Kiwi Charms and Aussie Delights”. Can’t wait for this next segment!
Today we did our own thing rather than a tour. We took an Uber to the Auckland Aquarium and spent several hours there. That place was so cool and was one of the best aquariums we’ve been to. Tons of penguins, turtles, sharks and other cool tropical fish. All those penguins have us ready to book another Antarctica cruise!
After that we took an Uber to the Auckland Sky Tower (the Ubers are really cheap and the strong US Dollar against the New Zealand currency makes everything pretty cheap!). The Sky Tower took almost 3 years to build at a cost of $85 million in 1997.
We took the elevator up to the top (722 feet) to see the amazing 360 degree views across Auckland. They also offered both a Sky Walk and a Sky Jump. NOPE! Not us… we got a world cruise to finish so no heart attacks for us thank you!
After that we came back on board and had lunch. In the afternoon, Kathy went to get a mani-pedi and I went shopping in the city. I’m looking at you grand kids! I’ll do another update after dinner. Hope everyone’s having a great day!
