Hi All! Today we were docked in the town of Suva, the capital of Fiji. We did a tour called “Navua River by Longboat” and it was really fun. We took a bus to a dock along the Navua River at a local village.
We boarded a Fijian Longboat to ride down the Navua River. I felt like we were on the Amazon River. It was so lush and green along the river banks. We saw horses, cattle and some waterfalls along the way.
We pulled off the river to hike up to a gorgeous waterfall. We swam in the huge water hole below the waterfall. Dang was that water C-C-C-COLD!! But refreshing!
We then took the longboat back to the village. The village men and women greeted us with a Kava ceremony (usually done only for a king) but they did it for us. They danced and sang and thanked us for coming.
They cooked us amazing local food of chicken, fish, rice, noodles, spinach and also served us juicy mango, pineapple and papaya fruit. It was all sooo delicious!
We then took the bus back to the port, boarded the ship and got showered and ready for dinner. I’ll do another update tonight.
