Hi Folks! Today is the first of 5 sea days as we cross the Pacific Ocean towards French Polynesia heading to the port of Rangiroa. As you know from a few weeks ago, we love our sea days and our routine. Today was no different… slept in a little, got a workout in at the gym, ate great food, played some fun games, caught a few rays and saw a great show! What’s not to like? Especially when it’s sunny and 75 degrees!
But today’s games were slightly different. Rather than the usual Officers challenge game indoors, they had “The Mariner Olympic Games” (a nod to the Winter Olympics!) outdoors. It started with the “Parade of Officers” marching in like all the nations do at the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics. It was really fun and the Officers and the passengers tied!
We also played two normal passenger games inside of Tic-Tac-Throw and Axe Throwing. And we won two Regent points. YAY!
Before dinner they had the Regent Seven Seas Society party where they recognize all the various loyalty levels (we’re Platinum). They have lots of drinks and canapés and at the end the Regent singers put on a show. And they honored Sharon Patterson, with a Captain’s jacket, who reached the highest loyalty level of Commodore since she’s sailed with Regent over 2,000 nights!! That’s what Kathy and I are shooting for! Yeah, right! Lol
After that we had dinner with our good friends Cristi, Tina and Ramone who we’ve gotten to know thru playing all the passenger games. Tina and Ramone are the parents and Cristi is their daughter. Their family immigrated from Cuba and they own a business in Miami and live there. They had a very short commute to pick up this cruise!
We had dinner at Compass Rose and anytime they have the Seven Seas Society night, they have my favorite dish… which is the Miso Glazed Sea Bass! So for my starters I had the Sweet Potato Cream Soup and the Porcini Mushroom Risotto. Of course for my main I got the Sea Bass. For dessert I had the Chocolate Mousse. Yep, another tasty dinner at Compass Rose!
After dinner we went to the show with the Guest Entertainer named Panos Karan. He is a classical pianist and we saw him about a year and a half ago on the Regent Grandeur ship. He has an amazing resume and has played four times at Carnegie Hall. He did lots of traditional classical music. Our favorite was Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. It was a great show!
After the show we listened to some live music from the May & Jun duo. Tomorrow is another sea day so you know what that means… wash, rinse, repeat! Hope everyone had a great Friday!
PS: The one thing that made today extra special, and always does, is FaceTiming with the Grandkids. Got to hear all about their adventures in the snow! Sure do miss those little buggers!!
