World Cruise – Regent Seven Seas Mariner – 154 Days – Honolulu, Hawaii – Day 23 – Pics Part 1!

Sunday Feb 1, 2026

Hi Folks! Happy February! We’re in Honolulu for another day. And this is the end of the first segment of the world cruise. So roughly 400 people will get off the ship today and roughly 400 new people will get on. The first segment, from Miami to Honolulu went 6,335 nautical miles and Regent called that segment “Crossing Horizons”.

This next segment goes from Honolulu to Papeete (Tahiti), French Polynesia and Regent calls that segment “South Pacific Dreams”. With places like Bora Bora, Tahiti and more of French Polynesia, sounds like a dream to me!

Today was the first World Cruise exclusive tour we had, which are special tours just for those on the full world cruise. Today’s tour was to the USS Missouri at Pearl Harbor. That was the ship, also known as the iconic “Mighty Mo”, where on Sept 2, 1945 in Tokyo Bay, the treaty to end the war was signed with Japan. This October we’ll be touring Japan and hope to visit the place that caused the end of the war at Hiroshima.

The Missouri was commissioned on June 11, 1944 in NYC. It is 3 football fields long and as tall as a 20 story building. It fought in the battle of Okinawa and was the first to shoot a Tomahawk missile in Desert Storm. It held about 3,000 sailors. It was named the Missouri since Harry Truman was the President at the time it was commissioned and he was from Missouri.

On April 11, 1945 a Japanese kamikaze pilot tried to attack the Missouri but crashed before hitting it and ended up dead on the deck. Even though he was the enemy, the commander gave him a military funeral on April 12 to honor his service to his country.

On June 22, 1998 the Missouri was brought back to Pearl Harbor and lies next to the Arizona Memorial to show the start and end of the war. It’s estimated that 69 million died during WWII. So sad.

After the tour we chilled for the afternoon and got some sun. (And watched the 400 new people come aboard!). I’ll do another update tonight after dinner. Hope everyone is having a great Sunday.
