Hi All! We’ve almost made it across the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii! This is the last of our 5 sea days and tomorrow we finally dock on land in Hilo, Hawaii on the Big Island. Can’t wait!
Today was closer to our normal sea day activities. We are creatures of habit (aren’t you?) and love our routine of sleeping in a little, getting a workout in at the gym, eating great food, playing some fun games, and seeing a great show! But we did have three new activities today! A boat race, a crew show, and stargazing but more on all that later.
As for the passenger games, we played Top Toss, Skii Ball (against the Officers), Skittles and Crazy Golf. We won 7 Regent points (YAY!) and beat the Officers (Double YAY!). So across all games against the officers, we tied 5-5. Since we have no more sea days until our next segment starting in Honolulu (with 400 people getting off and 400 new ones getting on) we’ll start up a new set of games against the Officers then.
After lunch we watched the boat building competition. There were two groups who entered boats they made from gathering materials around the ship. Both boats were very creative and we were rooting for our good friend Christy, who we play the passenger games with, to win but she didn’t. Her competition was this huge pirate ship that was very impressive!
Another new activity today was the 6 PM show they call Krew Kapers. It is a show put on by various crew members from all different departments and they have to practice on their time off so it’s a lot of effort on their part. You just can’t believe the talents some of them have! It was a fun show and before the show starts, the Captain bids farewell to the 400 people who were only on this first segment of the voyage.
After the early show we went to the Specialty restaurant Prime 7 for dinner. We had gotten invited by the Cruise Director Andrew Galler to join him and one other couple. It was a fun dinner and to keep it classy, no food pics! Funny thing is, the other couple will be on the brand new Regent ship, the Prestige, next Jan with us. Fun!
After dinner we went to the show of the violinist from the other night named Lazlo Pap. This show was called “So! Violin or Fiddle” and he did lots of songs from Fiddler on the Roof as well as others. He’s very funny and a great violinist.
We ended the night with the third new activity for us which was called “Stargazing with the Officers”. They turned off the ship’s exterior lights and we got to see an amazing constellation of stars. One of the officers used this cool laser light to point out the Big Dipper, the Little Dipper, Orion, Mars and Jupiter. It was very cool. Hope everyone had a great hump day!
PS: My grandkids have asked for pictures of the games we play so I included a couple along with another beautiful Pacific Ocean sunset!
