Hi All! Yes, another sea day! Dang this west coast of Mexico is long. But we don’t mind sea days and love the routine we’ve settled in to for those. Yep, slept in a little, got a workout in at the gym, ate great food, played some fun games, got educated and saw a great show. Not bad!
As to the games, we played Top Toss, Roll a Ball (against the officers), and Skittles (Bowling). We won 6 Regent points (YAY!) and the passengers beat the officers (Double YAY!). The games are always so fun and we’ve met so many nice people.
As to education, Dr Sherry gave a talk on “World Heritage Sites”. There are currently 1,248 UNESCO sites across 170 countries. For example, places like the Taj Mahal and the Roman Colosseum. Italy has the most UNESCO sites. UNESCO stands for United Nations Educational, Societal and Cultural Organization. Some sites are on the danger list like the Galapagos and the Great Barrier Reef. It can cost up to 1 million dollars to prepare the report to the committee to get added to the list. That’s crazy!
Before dinner, we attended an exclusive event as a “Top Tier Guest” for what they called Cocktails and Crooners. The show was called “An Event of Timeless Harmonies and Speakeasy Glamour”. They suggested to dress in Rat Pack Chic (yeah, right! Lol). It was really fun and the music was some of the great Rat Pack oldies. Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and others. Even our Cruise Director Andrew sang. He’s good!
We then went to dinner with our good friends Colleen, Steve, Terry and Don. We went to the French themed restaurant called Chartreuse. We had been to it before on other Regent ships but they changed the menu to be more of a French Bistro so we were excited to try it. I had the Crab and Asparagus for my first appetizer, the Mushroom Soup for my second appetizer, the Halibut for my main and the Creme Brûlée for dessert. Everything was excellent! Funny thing though, found out Don and I have the same birthday as does Kathy and Colleen. Wild!
After dinner we went to the show with a guest entertainer vocalist named Kenny James. He had won 13 consecutive times on the TV Show Star Search and was a member of the recording group The Hues Corporation who had the #1 hit “Rock The Boat”. He was a powerful singer and sang some great oldies. His son plays bass and accompanied the Regent Signature Orchestra. He’s got another show in a couple days and can’t wait to see him again.
After the show we ended our night listening to the Regent Signature Orchestra playing all Latin music. Love the Samba! Tomorrow we’re in Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. Excited about that and that we put the clocks back an hour and will get an extra hours sleep. YAY! Hope everyone had a great Thursday!
