Hi Folks! Today we are docked in Puntarenas, Costa Rica. We’ve never been to Costa Rica so it’s always exciting to visit a new country! It’s located along the Pacific Coast and is known for its culture, history and beautiful beaches.
Our all day excursion was called “Aerial Tram & Rainforest Adventure”. It started with about an hour and a half scenic drive along the coast and up into the mountains. When we arrived at the Rainforest Adventures complex we started our tour in the Butterfly Garden which was an enclosed area with tons of butterflies floating around. They had these cool butterflies with big owl like eyes on their wings.
We then walked thru the Medicinal Plant Garden. There were lots of plants the locals use for various medicines but did you know the Coconut and Banana trees are not trees?? They’re herbs! Crazy. We also got to see a couple big iguanas hanging out. And we even saw little baby bats under the palm leaves. That was scary! Lol
After that we had the highlight of the trip which was floating above the rainforest in this tram that just had six of us in it. We went up REALLY HIGH! It was so quiet and peaceful up there and the views were incredible.
We did see a Toucan in the tree next to us, but I couldn’t get my camera ready to grab a pic. As we floated back down to the ground, we also saw a bird that looked sort of like a peacock but wasn’t. It was busy eating some yellow straw looking thing and it was cool to watch it.
After our tram ride, we had a nice lunch buffet of beef, chicken, rice, beans and vegetables. Very yummy! We then took the bus back to the ship. We boarded the ship and watched part of the Bills/Broncos playoff game. I’ll do another update tonight. Hope everyone’s weekend is starting off well!
