Hi Gang! Yes the time has finally come when the Wandering Italian and his co-pilot Kathy will circumnavigate the globe on an around the world cruise! We booked this trip a year and a half ago so we’re so excited to start this adventure and hope you will follow along virtually with us!
But first and foremost, Happy New Year to all! Hope 2026 will be your best year yet (I think it will be ours!). Like all of you, I got to spend lots of quality time with my friends and family. Got to take my grandsons to their first movie at the theater (Zootopia 2!). Watched one of my grandsons first hockey practices and had them over for lots of sleepovers. I’m really going to miss those little buggers! Oh wait, I’ll miss my kids too! Lol
This trip is going to be quite the adventure. Some of the high level stats are: 154 nights, 6 continents, 41 countries, 77 ports, 47 UNESCO World Heritage sites and 39,722 nautical miles!! Whew… I get tired thinking about it! Just hoping Kathy doesn’t get tired of me and toss me overboard! Lol
We’ll be on the Regent Seven Seas Mariner ship (which we were on exactly a year ago for a “test drive” and loved it). It has roughly 700 total passengers (perfect size) but only about 175 brave souls (including us!) will be on the ship for the entire 154 days.
There are so many bucket list places we’ll be visiting (check out the itinerary pic below) but we’ll also do 3 “Overland Tours” where we’ll get off the ship for a few days and rejoin the ship a few ports away. Those three are: A Safari in Kruger National Park in South Africa, the Taj Mahal in India, and Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Those three should all be WOW days! Of course not to mention Fiji, Bora Bora, Tahiti, Singapore, Madagascar, Australia, New Zealand… and the list goes on and on and on…
We fly down to Miami on Thurs Jan 8th and spend a few days visiting Kathy’s family. We’ll board the ship on Sat Jan 10th where that evening we’ll have a Gala Event just for the 175 full World Cruisers and then the ship sets sail on Sun Jan 11th. We return back to Miami on Sat June 13th!
Regent calls this voyage “The Sense of Adventure”, and I see why! Feel free to follow along and see this great big beautiful world thru our eyes. We can’t wait!
