Crystal Serenity – 7 day Canada/New England Cruise – New York City – Day 1 – Final Pics!

Tues Sept 30, 2025

Hi Again Gang! We had a great overall first day and night on Crystal Serenity. The entire crew and staff are all very personable. We have a butler named Micheal (well, Lah-Tee-Da!) that is very attentive and helpful. And the passengers often say hi and make conversation which is nice.

While getting ready for dinner we realized we could catch both a sunset and the Statue of Liberty. That had to be one of the prettiest sail aways we’ve ever experienced. And as a nice touch, Crystal was playing Louie Armstrong’s “It’s a Wonderful Life” over the outside speakers as we sailed away. It truly is a wonderful life!

We had dinner tonight in the Main Dining Room named Waterside. While their menu is not as extensive as Compass Rose on Regent, the food was all very tasty and presented well. I had the Seared Wagyu Beef Crudo and the Buffalo Mozzarella for my two starters. For my main I had the Fresh Lemon Sole. For dessert I had the Beehive which was Honey Custard, Figs, Merengue and a Greek Yogurt Sorbet. Wow! Another nice touch they have is a different specialty butter for your bread and tonight’s was a delicious goat cheese, garlic and chives… yummy!

After dinner we went to the show which was called “Crystal in Motion”. It was a mix of several of the performers who will all be on this cruise. It included the Crystal Singers & Dancers, the Crystal Show Band, a Violinist and a Dance Duo. It was a high powered performance that was very good!

After the show we tried out several live music acts to see which we liked. We went to the Avenue Saloon to hear Colin Salter play piano and do some sing alongs. We listened to the Flair Duo in the Palm Court. And lastly we went to the Crystal Cove to hear Gabriel from the Crystal Show Band play solo guitar. They were all good but our favorite was the Flair Duo. We hope to hear lots more from them!

After that we called it a night. Forgot that we traveled today but it was sooo much easier flying to NYC than across the pond like our last one! Tomorrow we are in Newport, Rhode Island and while we’ve been there before, we love seeing the stately mansions there! Hope everyone had a great Tuesday!
