Oslo to Barcelona – 8 countries in 18 days – Day 11 – Sea Day – Final Pics!

Friday September 5, 2025

Hi Gang! If you’ve read this blog for a while you know how we love our sea days. Time to sleep in, get educated, eat great food and enjoy great entertainment. Today we added another item to that list… booked another cruise! But more about that later!

We started off with a nice long sleep since the boat was rocking so gently last night. Slept like a baby in a cradle! We then listened to a speaker discuss the 6 American Embassy employees who escaped during the Iran hostage crisis back in Nov 1979. The CIA successfully saved them and brought them back home with much help from the Canadian government and their embassy workers.

This speaker was part of that operation and described how intense and scary the whole operation was. The movie Argo, with Ben Affleck, was based on that operation and the speaker said it was fairly accurate.

After that we had a nice lunch in La Veranda restaurant. It’s their buffet restaurant where we eat lunch most days and the selection and food quality is top notch. You can never go hungry on this ship!

After lunch we met with the future cruise consultant Daniela and booked a cruise on Regent’s newest ship the Prestige. It isn’t even built yet and doesn’t start sailing until Dec 2026 but we booked a quick winter getaway to the Caribbean in Jan 2027. And no we did not book the largest suite on the ship which is 9,000 sq foot and $25,000 per night!! But if we win that Powerball Lottery this weekend at $1.7 Billion we just might! Lol.

After that we went to an afternoon show (which they rarely do) called “All Star Variety Show” which included acts by the various entertainment team as well as a magic and comedy routine put on by our Cruise Director John Elkin. It was a great show and we didn’t realize how much hidden talent there was on this ship!

After the show we went to the afternoon tea just to get a picture of all the brownies (yeah, right!).

We then got ready for the evening since there was a Seven Seas Society cocktail hour at 6 PM. That’s the membership group that gives out benefits to you based on how many days you’ve sailed with Regent. Kathy and I just made Gold level with this cruise and after the around the world cruise next year, we will be Platinum! Well Lah-Tee-Dah! Lol.

After the cocktail hour we went to dinner at Compass Rose. I had the Cured Halibut Mosaic as well as the Sweet Potato Cream Soup for my starters. For my main I had the Miso Glazed Sea Bass and for dessert I had the Dark Belgian Chocolate Mousse. All were excellent!

After dinner we went to the show which was the British singer from a few nights ago named Michelle Montuori. Her show was called “Voices of Vegas” and she sang songs from the likes of the Carpenters, Cher, Frank Sinatra, and Tina Turner. Such great music and she has such a powerful voice!

After the show we listened to Rod play the piano at the Navigator Lounge then called it a night. Tomorrow we are in La Coruna, Spain and since we’ve never docked there we’re looking forward to a new adventure! Hope  everyone had a great Friday!
