Hi Again Gang! So tonight I think we found the restaurant that makes Cunard start to feel more like a luxury cruise line (but with a caveat that I’ll mention below). We had dinner in the specialty restaurant named The Verandah. I got it for Kathy’s birthday and the menu and food was much better than the Britannia.
Their specialty is steaks but they have lots of other nice options as you can see on the menu pic. So if they’re good at steaks we figured why not order a steak! And since we paid extra for this we wanted to strap the feed bag on and get our money’s worth! So I had the Crab Cake for my starter, the Rib Eye with a Hen’s Egg and Roasted Bone Marrow (yes, Bone Marrow!) for my Main and the Dark Chocolate Fondant for my dessert. (But the caveat that I feel “cheapened” the experience was they only allowed one appetizer. Heck even the free Britannia restaurant allows two appetizers!).
After dinner we went to the Garden Lounge to listen to our new favorite live music group, the Irish folk music duo named Blackthorn Folk Duo. They both play their guitars so well and in such harmony and all their music tells such a great story. And they are both really funny!
After we listened to them we went to listen to our second favorite duo which is the Southeast 9 Duo. They were in the Golden Lion pub, which is such a great venue for live music. They play all variety of music and have a good following of regulars that come to listen to them.
We then called it a night. Tomorrow we’re in Haines and are excited to visit there since we’ve never been to that port. Hope everyone had a great weekend!
