Hi All! Today we are docked in Cobh (pronounced Cove) which is the gateway to the city of Cork, Ireland. I shouldn’t even tell you what Cobh is famous for (it’s sort of like “he who shall not be named!”) but it was the last stop for the ill-fated Titanic!! Yikes! Hope we make it to Dover safely!
We were again on an all day tour today. We went to the Blarney Castle and gardens, the town of Kinsale and the town of Cork.
We started first at Blarney Castle. I’ll let you know right up front we both had no intention of kissing the Blarney Stone. We both already have the gift of gab so God help us if we added more! Lol Plus, the time in line to kiss the stone was 1.5 hours! And that stone had to be all slobbery! Yuk!
But the castle and garden were really cool. It was a dreary day (our driver called it dull!) and the low clouds gave the castle a mysterious look. The gardens were very nice and we saw horses, cows and sheep on the grounds. And they even had an outlet store within the castle grounds. Shopping!! Lol
We then drove to Kinsale. The town of Kinsale was very small and very cute! It was a little foggy but it was nice walking around. We stopped at a little coffee shop and had some hot chocolate and a yummy caramel chocolate bar!
After that we took a panoramic tour thru Cork. We didn’t get off the bus but the driver pointed out the various sites. It too looked like a cute little town. We then drove back to the town of Cobh and had a few minutes to snap some pictures and walk around. We then got back to the ship and got ready for dinner. I’ll post another update tonight. Happy Thursday to all!
