Wild British Isles – Day 7 – Invergordon, Scotland – Pics Part 1!

Wed June 4, 2025

Hi Gang! We’re still in Scotland and as I mentioned yesterday our itinerary changed and today we’re docked at Invergordon, which is the gateway to both the city of Inverness and Loch Ness. So when in or near Loch Ness you gotta go look for the Loch Ness monster (or Nessie as they call her here!) so that’s what we did!

We started out with a drive thru the beautiful Scottish Highlands with their mountains and meadows. We also drove along the River Ness which spills into the Loch Ness. The Loch Ness is 26 miles long and 1,000 feet deep in parts (as deep as the North Sea!). So that’s why we can’t find the monster! Lol

We then got to the Urquhart Castle, built both as a fortress and a residence. There is lots of history there but of course the biggest tourist draw is the monster. Legend has it that Nessie (or the Wee Beastie as she is affectionately known locally) lives in a cave underneath the castle. So of course Kathy and I went down to find her! Heck Kathy even stuck her toes in the water (not me!!). But alas, no monster. Maybe next time!

We then drove back along the Loch and drove thru Inverness, the capital of the Scottish Highlands. We did not get a chance to get out to tour it but it looked like a quaint city along the river with many churches in it. Again, we’ll just have to come back!

We then got back on the ship and had a late lunch and chilled for the afternoon. I’ll do another update after dinner tonight. Happy Hump Day to all!
