Hi All! We made it to Dover and boarded the ship! We can’t thank our good friends Sue and Stuart enough for their amazing hospitality, delicious food and especially for driving us to the port which is two hours each way! We owe them big time and hope we can soon cruise with them again and/or host them in Charlotte. We’ll turn them on to some good NC BBQ!
I have to say that Holland America knocked it out of the park with the embarkation. We arrived at the port at 11:45 AM and got thru security and check in within 5 mins and were eating lunch at the Lido by Noon! Brilliant! Lol
It’s always nice getting on a ship you’ve been on before and since we were just on this one in Feb we knew the lay of the land. But after lunch we still walked the ship to see if anything had changed but it was pretty much the same, which is good! And we like this ship… not too big, not too small!
So we did a balcony guarantee booking on this cruise which means we get a balcony of the category we paid for or higher but they assign the cabin so it can be risky. But we think we lucked out since we got a higher priced cabin and it’s a handicap accessible cabin which is very spacious! And we had a nice view of the White Cliffs of Dover and Dover Castle. Brilliant!
We got all unpacked and settled into our cabin. Then got ready for dinner. I’ll do another update tonight after dinner. Hope everyone’s having a great weekend!
