Hi Gang! We had another great day of R & R & E & GF! Which means Rest & Relaxation & Education & Great Food!
We slept in which is always nice. For those who have never cruised, you wouldn’t believe how good your sleep is at sea. Those comfy beds coupled with the gentle movement of the ship just lulls you to sleep. Now I know where the term “I slept like a baby” comes from!
We then went to the speaker topic which was “From Peru to the Amazon – Who has the Amazon has Brazil – In Search of El Dorado”. It started out describing how Spanish conquistadors under Francisco Pizarro went to the West Coast of South America looking for treasures. They were hoping to find El Dorado, a city of gold, as well as the spice cinnamon.
They never found El Dorado but they did find the Amazon River but the Portuguese were already there. So that’s why the people of Brazil speak Portuguese and most of the other countries in South America speak Spanish. He also noted that the Amazon is the 2nd longest river in the world at 4,000 miles long (the Nile is the longest at 4,132 miles).
We then had a nice lunch in La Veranda. The other day I realized they have a different fresh fish every day they’ll cook for you. So today I had Covina, which is a white fish similar to sea bass, and I had it blackened and it was so tasty. Can’t wait to try others!
After lunch we relaxed for a while and then guess what, had to eat again! So we went to the afternoon tea for the first time. Today’s goodies were donuts! Wow, you should have seen the donuts they had (sorry I didn’t get a picture!). Ones with bacon on top, ones with tons of whipped cream on them and even peanut butter donuts. Yum!
After that we got ready for guess what… dinner! Yes, more eating! We went to Compass Rose and had chicken noodle soup and shrimp risotto for appetizers and Mahi Mahi for the main. And the chocolate cake for dessert was pretty awesome too!
After dinner we went to the show which was Josh Henderson doing a show named “Rock Legends”. Josh was the one who did the Queen tribute the other night. Tonight he rocked out to music by The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Huey Lewis, Bryan Adams, Aerosmith, Journey and Guns N’ Roses. Wow, what a show!
After the show, we listened to some Karaoke! As always, there’s people who can really sing and there are others that kinda hurt your ears! Lol.
It was a long but fun day! Tomorrow is another sea day. Hope everybody had a great Friday!
