Miami to Rio – Test Drive for the World Cruise – Day 2 – Sea Day – Final Pics!

Thurs Jan 9, 2025

Hi Again Gang! Well our day had a nice sunny start and ended with a beautiful sunset. Nothing like a sunset on the high seas. Intoxicating!

After getting all gussied up for formal night, we went to the Captain’s Welcome party. He thanked everyone for being on the voyage and introduced all his senior staff. They also mentioned that there are 275 people doing the full World Cruise and 300 of us “segmenters” just doing a segment or two of the full trip.

We then went to Compass Rose for dinner and had another great meal. I started off with caviar (well, LAH-TEE-DA!) and cream of asparagus soup for my starters and then Sake Glazed Salmon and a lobster tail for my main. We both had the Tanzanian Chocolate Cake for dessert. Yummy all around!

On the way to dinner Kathy met the “World Cruise Host and Hostess”, who are prior Regent Cruise Directors who have done many World Cruises and are here to answer questions anyone has. So she arranged to have dinner with them over the next few days so we can pick their brains!

After dinner we went to the show which was a comedian/magician named Levent. He was really funny and did some amazing magic! Would love to know how they do all those slight of hand tricks!

After the show we decided to try out a new live music venue and went to the Horizon Lounge to listen to the Regent Orchestra play Big Band music. They were really good and they had people up dancing. Fun way to end the evening!

We crashed early since we move the clocks ahead an hour and lose an hour’s sleep. But the good news is we have another sea day so lots of relaxation is on the docket! Hope everyone had a great Thursday!
