Hi All! As we all prepare for the holidays, there’s nothing better than being together with family. So I decided to take all my kids and grand kids on a cruise to start the Christmas celebration! We went on the Carnival Sunshine out of Charleston. A convenient 3 hour drive from Charlotte. While it’s clearly not Regent Seven Seas! That ship is fun and they’ve upped their game in the Main Dining Room (but still no lobster!).
Kathy wasn’t able to come due to work but was nice enough to let us all stay at her place the night before the cruise. We had no problems driving down or back and while the embarkation took a little longer than I’m used to with Regent, the disembarkation was a breeze and took 5 minutes since we were literally the last ones off the ship!
The ship was all decorated for Christmas and Carnival really does cater to kids since they did a Dr Seuss parade, a reading of Green Eggs & Ham as well as having Santa show up for pictures. They also have a great kid’s club that the older boys went to each day for a few hours to give mom and dad a break.
The older boys also loved playing shuffleboard, watching movies (as well as the Panthers game) outside on the big screen and dancing each night in the dining room when all the waiters danced and marched around during what Carnival calls “ShowTime” every night. So fun!
Also, our little guy won the baby crawling tournament and got his own trophy! (Don’t tell anyone he was the only baby in the competition! Lol). I got each of the boys a cruise related t-shirt and they wore it proudly. And yes, us adults had fun too! We went to the Comedy Club, saw some of the shows and played lots of trivia (but didn’t win). All in all it was a great cruise!
I now get to have all my kids and grand kids together again over the Christmas holiday. I truly am blessed! I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year. Stay safe!
