Rome to Barcelona – Third Time’s a Charm – Day 8 – Tunis, Tunisia – Pics Part 1!

Mon Nov 18, 2024

Hi All! We’re in Africa today! Who knew it was in the Mediterranean?? Lol. We were docked in the town of La Goulette, which is the gateway to the city of Tunis at the tip of North Africa. It’s not far from Malta or Sicily. And with neighbors like Libya and Algeria, what’s to worry about? Yikes! Glad we got out of here safely!

But seriously, it seemed pretty safe overall. We did an excursion to the cities of Tunis and Carthage. In Tunis we spent all our time in the Medina, which is the walled area with lots of shops (souks), restaurants, houses, hotels, schools and mosques. It’s in essence where most of the people conduct their daily lives.

In Carthage, which is one of the great cities of the ancient world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we toured the Roman ruins of the 2nd-century Antonine Baths. As well as drive by one of the longest Roman aqueducts in the world.

After our tour we chilled and got ready for dinner. Happy Monday all!
