Rome to Barcelona – Third Time’s a Charm – Day 7 – Valletta, Malta – Pics Part 2!

Sun Nov 17, 2024

Hi Again Folks! This afternoon we did a very fun cooking class onboard the ship. I think it’s so cool that Silver Sea offers these cooking classes for FREE and the kitchen holds about 20 people. We have another one booked in a few days.

Today’s class was called “Sweets of Malta” (based on that name, you knew we’d sign up for that one!). The overall program is called S.A.L.T. and stands for Sea and Land Taste. The concept is to include the tastes from the regions we visit into foods and drinks. They have a SALT Lab where we did the cooking, they have a SALT Bar where they’ll make drinks customized to the region and they have a SALT Kitchen that’s a restaurant and serves cuisine based on the area you’re traveling in. We haven’t tried the Salt Kitchen yet for dinner but may try it soon.

We made two treats today. One was called Pudina tal-Hobz and was like a British bread pudding. The other was called Chestnut, Chocolate and Mandarin Trifle and is traditionally enjoyed in Malta on Christmas Eve. Both were yummy and we had fun making them.

After the cooking class we came back to the room and chilled and got ready for dinner. I’ll do an update after dinner tonight!
