Hi Gang! Today we were docked in Civitavecchia, Italy which is the port for Rome. The weather gods are back in our favor since it was sunny and 72 and there was no rain! Since we both have been to Rome many times (I spent over a week here a few years back) we decided to try something different. Our tour was called “Taste of Enchanting Tuscia”. Tuscia means the place where the Etruscans lived.
We started with a drive to the village of Tarquinia. Tarquinia was founded in the 8th century BC. It has a population of 18,000 people. It is a very quaint medieval town with lots of church’s and beautiful views across the countryside.
Our guide, who was born in Tarquinia, gave us a walk thru the old town. It is surrounded by a huge wall that was used for protection in the old days. The walls were built in the 11th to the 14th century AD. After our tour we had time to walk around the town.
We then drove to this private estate and had lunch along with some free time to walk around the estate. It was an Agriturisimo called Castello Poggio Nebbia (which means Castle on a foggy hill). They served us salami, prosciutto and cheese for the first appetizer. Then marinated pepper and carrots for the second appetizer. Then lots of pasta for the main. Everything was delicioso!
We then drove back to the pier and boarded the boat. We got back late so we got ready for dinner. Tonight we’re eating at Prime 7 so we’ll have to loosen the belt a few notches!
I had so many pictures I broke them up in two parts. Part 1 is from Tarquinia and Part 2 is at the Agriturisimo. I’ll post another update after dinner. Hope everyone’s having a great Sunday!
