Hi All! Well we can’t complain since we’ve had 22 straight days of sunny weather on this trip. But the 23rd day, our luck ran out. It was a very rainy, stormy and windy day today. Because of that, they cancelled our port call in Sorrento since we’d have to tender and the water was much too rough for that.
So the captain decided to dock in Naples instead. They kept all the tours the same but they would just last longer since it was further to get to the Sorrento area. Our tour was a trip to the island of Capri but due to the weather we decided to cancel and not go. So in essence we had another sea day! But not a big deal since we’ve both been to Sorrento, Naples and Capri before and we’ll actually be back in Naples in about a month (I know, I know! Lol).
So we slept in and had a nice sit down lunch in Compass Rose. Had their yummy Chinese BBQ Pork Ribs! We then played their organized game of corn hole and Kathy came in 2nd! In the afternoon we watched the Godfather movie since we’re here in the heart of Italy. Such a classic movie! Then we played their organized game of putt putt golf and came close but didn’t win. But it was fun!
We then got ready for dinner. While we were getting ready a 5 plane battalion of the Italian Air Force flew overhead with a red, white and green exhaust tail representing the Italian flag. Not sure what the occasion was but it looked really cool.
We then went to dinner in Compass Rose. I kept to my mostly seafood diet but once again gave the lobsters a break. Of course I had my escargot but also tried the Toscana crepe and had the Dover Sole for my main. The chocolate tart for dessert was to die for! Yummy!!
After dinner we went to the show called “Tuxedo”. We saw it the last segment of the cruise and really liked it so we went again. It was all Rat Pack type music (Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., etc). Great show and great music!
We then listened to Mark on piano to end our evening. Tomorrow we stay in Italy and dock in Civitavecchia, which is the port for Rome. Hope everyone had a great Saturday!
