Hi again Gang! You know your vacation is going great when each day is just as good if not better than the previous. If you ever have the chance, do a Mediterranean cruise with Regent. They take such good care of us and offer extras like the narration thru the Dardanelles Strait. Very cool!
We started off the evening going to the early show at 6. It was the Regent Singers doing the “Great American Song Factory”. These were the songs that came out of The Brill Building in New York City that pretty much defined the 50’s and 60’s. Great music!
After that we had dinner and I got back into my “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” mode and got my same seafood extravaganza. That Lobster Protection Society is probably sending out a hit man on me as we speak!
After dinner we went up on the outside deck to watch us sail thru the Dardanelles Strait. One of the world’s narrowest straits (3/4 mile wide) used for international navigation, the Dardanelles connects the Sea of Marmara with the Aegean and Mediterraneanseas while also allowing passage to the Black Sea by extension via the Bosporus. It forms part of the continental boundary between Asia and Europe and separates Asian Turkey from European Turkey.
After that we watched a documentary film on Turkey which included a cruise down the Bosporus Strait, a trip to Topkapi Palace, a look at the Blue Mosque and a peek into a traditional Turkish Bath House. It got us very excited to arrive in Istanbul tomorrow where we’ll be for two days!
We ended our night as we always do listening to our friend Mark play the piano. On to Istanbul tomorrow! TGIF to all!
