Hi Folks! We were in Greece today on the island of Corfu. So I guess I should say Opa! Or even better, Kalimera (Good Morning)! Corfu is the second largest Ionian Island and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was also used to film many of the James Bond scenes from “For Your Eyes Only”!
We did a tour that lasted most of the morning and into the early afternoon. Then had them drop us off in old town Corfu to walk around a bit and then we took the free shuttle back to the ship. There were five cruise ships in port with a total of over 10,000 passengers so the town was very busy!
Our tour took us to a beach area called Paleokastitsa first and we walked around and took in the scenery. Then we went up on the mountain to the village of Lakones where we stopped at a local Greek Tavern and had some authentic Greek snacks. We also got to watch a traditional Greek dance show. The views from up there were incredible.
I’ll let the pictures do the talking and give an update after dinner. Ciao for Now!
