Hi Folks! Today we were docked in the town of Sydney, Nova Scotia on Cape Breton Island. We had been here before and had done tours both of the city and an area called the Highlands around it so this time we decided to venture further north and visit the Cabot Trail and the Cape Breton National Park.
Cape Breton is located exactly halfway between the equator and the North Pole. Rocks found at the tip of Cape Breton are over a billion years old! At Inverness Beach, one of our stops, the water is the warmest north of the Carolinas (but we didn’t get in!).
Our all day excursion traveled along the eastern side of the Cabot Trail. It was named after John Cabot (Giovanni Caboto), the Italian explorer who first founded this area. It was a long drive along a beautiful coastline. We stopped at St Ann’s bay, Inverness Beach and Ingonish beach. We even had to use a car ferry to get around all the water and mountains. I’ll let the pictures do the talking about the trip!
Since we were gone all day, after our trip we just chilled and got ready for dinner. Tonight is our last formal night so time to get all gussied up!
I’ll post an update after dinner. Happy Hump Day to all!
