Voyage of the Vikings – Day 9 – Reykjavik, Iceland  – Pics Part 1!

Fri July 5, 2024

Hi Gang! Happy Friday! Today we are in Reykjavik, Iceland, the world’s northern most Capitol! It’s located in the southwest portion of the island. We’ll be staying here overnight and the weather got a lot better. Mostly sunny and about 65 degrees… perfect for walking all around and that we did! And a lot cooler than North Carolina where the heat index is over 100! Got outta town just in time!

We took an all day tour that went for 10 and a half hours! We were exhausted. But got to see a lot of the Southern Coastal area around Reykjavik. We saw lots of waterfalls, a few volcanoes, a black sand beach and even a glacier. And we saw lots of Icelandic horses.

Did you know that the Iceland horse is the only horse with 5 gaits? They are Walk, Trot, Cantor, Tolt and Flying Pace. We also learned they can have over 40 different colors with over 100 variations. They are really pretty and I got a picture of a couple being ridden.

I’m again going to let the pictures do the talking. And bear with me because there’s a LOT of pictures! The scenery is just beautiful! I think we definitely need to come back!

That’s all for now. I’ll post more after dinner. TGIF!
