Voyage of the Vikings – Day 2 – Amsterdam!

Fri June 28, 2024

Hi Gang! I forgot how much I LOVED the city of Amsterdam! I had been here about 7 years ago and stayed for a week and forgot how cool all the canals, bikes and buildings were. It’s such a quaint city and well worth a visit if you’ve never been. Everyone is so laid back… but maybe that’s due to all the “coffee shops”!! Lol.

We slept in today to catch up on our sleep but then grabbed the bus into the city to explore. Of course I used my Rick Steve’s book with his great walking tours of both the central city as well as the Jordaan area. But we did not do the tour of the Red Light District, I promise. We’re saving that for our trip to Amsterdam next year where we’ll be here for two days during a cruise to the Baltics. They say the “window shopping” in the Red Light District is better at night! Lol.

We then caught the bus back to the hotel and got cleaned up to meet our friends Sue and Stuart for dinner. We ate at the hotel restaurant and the food was very good. It was so great seeing them and catching up. We sat at the restaurant and talked for almost three hours! It was a great start to what’s going to be an amazing trip!

Can’t wait to board the ship tomorrow. TGIF to all!!
