Canary Islands, Morocco and Northern Europe cruise on Seabourn Ovation – Day 21 – Sea Day – Pics Part 1!

Wed May 15, 2024

Hi Gang! Happy Hump Day! We had a nice relaxing sea day today… sleep… eat… repeat! Our first order of business was lunch! That’s when you know you slept in. And after lunch we went to a show with the Seabourn singers called “Voci” which means voices in Italian. They sang a lot of the classic Italian songs, like Volare, and sang most of them in Italian. It was a great show!

After that we did a galley tour. The Head Chef named Jes gave us the tour. He’s from England and he was a hoot! He has spent 28 years being a chef on cruise ships, the last 14 of which have been on Seabourn ships. He told us he has 65 chefs on board to help him and they all have to have at least 5 years experience working at a 5 star hotel (so that’s why the food is so good!). As the Head chef he tastes a sample of every dish every night before it’s mass produced for the guests. His team works 14 hour shifts per day for 4 months straight with no days off. Then they get 2 months off. Whew… get tired just thinking about it!

I didn’t have many pictures from today so I shared some from the inside of the Cathedral at Santiago de Compostela. Hoping showing a pic of St James will keep our good weather luck going. I forgot to mention it but we had no rain while we were out on tour yesterday in Northern Ireland. Unheard of! Enjoy! I’ll do another post tonight after dinner.
