Hi Folks! We made it to Africa! Well, the country of Morocco on the continent of Africa and specifically to the city of Agadir. And Kathy crossed two things off her bucket list! She made it to her 6th continent (I need to get her to Australia for her to reach all 7 continents!) and she rode a camel! Well really a dromedary since they have one hump and camels have two. Who knew??
We did a half day tour that stopped at several places. We started at the Oufella Kasbah, which was the fort that housed the old city and stood on the mountain above the port. That’s where Kathy rode the camel and we saw the first of two snake charmers!
We then went to the Souk El Had which is a huge market with thousands of stalls selling everything you can imagine. The sights, sounds and smells were pretty interesting!
We then stopped by the Talborjt Mosque, one of the largest in Morocco. As non-Muslims we weren’t allowed inside but we did hear the “call to prayer” announcement go out which they do five times a day.
We then capped off the tour going to the Fantasia show. It was originally called the “Tbourida” which means game of gunpowder and dates back to the time when battles were fought on horseback. I wish I could show you a video because these five horses came running at us and the men riding them all had guns and shot them off. Crazy!
I’ll send this update out now and send out one later after dinner. Hope everyone’s Sunday is going well!
