Pre-Christmas Cruise on Silversea Silver Dawn – Day 11 – Final Update – Barbados to Charlotte!

Thursday December 21, 2023

Hi Gang! Well sadly this amazing cruise had to end. We really had fun and for the most part had really good weather. Today we arrived into Barbados with a huge rainbow arched across the sky. So cool!

We had a really quick process getting off the ship and since our flight wasn’t until later in the day we booked an excursion thru the ship to tour Barbados and drop us at the airport.

Our first stop was a place called Gun Hill Signal Station. Barbados is not volcanic and mountainous like the other islands we visited and this “hill” was only 700 feet high but it had some nice views. It was built in 1818 to protect the island and “signal” the island if it was being attacked from the water.

The next stop was Bathsheba beach and is the place most of the surfers go since the tides are stronger on that part of the island. They actually have surfing competition there that would be fun to watch!

We then went to visit St John’s church. The church offers a sweeping view of the East Coast beaches from its high cliff side vantage point. This classic Gothic church was built to replace a previous structure, which had been destroyed by a hurricane in 1831.

After visiting the church they took us to the airport. It was nice that they had all our bags organized together so it only took us a few minutes to get our bags and check in.

The flight was smooth and uneventful like we like them. We landed in Charlotte at 9 PM. Love that there’s a direct flight from Barbados!

Thanks again to all for following along. We’ll be enjoying our Christmas and New Year’s with family and friends and then we’re off on another cruise in early January!

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
