Pre-Christmas Cruise on Silversea Silver Dawn – Day 3 – 2nd Sea Day!

Wednesday December 13, 2023

Hi again Folks! It’s now evening and I’m still full from that healthy lunch! Lol. So being the 2nd sea day in a row we decided to make it another Zzzzzz’s day! Slept in and did lots of sunning, relaxing and eating. We figured we’d better get our rest in now since the remaining 9 days of the cruise are all port stops where we’ll be up and off the ship by 9 AM exploring all these cool islands.

As I mentioned earlier, it’s nice and warm (85) but the sun sneaks in and out. Even had a brief shower so everybody cleared the pool area (good way to get an open lounger after the rain!).

It is fun to be on such a relatively small ship. They said this voyage has 540 passengers and 540 crew. That is an almost unheard of 1:1 ratio of passenger to crew that you don’t see on many cruise ships. I guess that’s why when we ask for something it gets handled in minutes. LAH-TEE-DAH! Lol.

The only two organized events we did were to go to the second day of the future cruise presentation and to play trivia. As to future cruises, I think I almost have Kathy convinced to go on the 200 day world voyage! It pretty much traverses the entire world!! Would that be amazing or what?

As to trivia… don’t ask!! We did terrible again. Dang these questions are hard. Think I need to do more world traveling to bone up on my geography!

So to add to the relaxation vibe for the day, Kathy had our butler Ian draw her a warm bath. He was so cute… he came with scented bath salts, candles, a little boom box playing classical music and set it all up. She said it was divine!

We tried a different restaurant tonight called Silver Note. It’s patterned after the Manhattan Jazz Clubs and the menu is mostly tapas style foods that you eat while listening to a jazz duo.

The food was amazing! I had lobster (of course!) and duck. Also had this starter they called Beehive that was a combination of various raw fish and meats with all these tasty sauces along with an egg shell full of scrambled eggs and caviar. The presentation in a “beehive” type pattern was so cool! LA-TEE-DAH!

But the icing on the cake (literally!) was the dessert we had called the Sugar Volcano. It was served in a dish that looked like a volcano! Actually all the plates had sort of a lava look to them. We decided this was our favorite restaurant so far and will definitely try to come back!

Instead of going to the show after dinner, we just stayed and listened to the jazz duo. We loved their smooth jazz sound. We crashed soon after that since we had to get up early for our excursion tomorrow. On to San Juan, Puerto Rico!

PS: Same as before… WiFi is spotty so I’ll post pics later!
