Hi All! We made it to London! We got off the ship early around 7:45 AM. Other than the 30 minute shuttle bus ride to Venice like we did yesterday, disembarkation was a breeze. I had paid for a taxi ahead of time since I had read they don’t all take credit cards but there were no taxis waiting at the cruise terminal. So I asked this nice young Italian girl for help and she called the taxi company for me and they arrived in 10 minutes. It was only about 30 minutes to the airport which was not bad.
However in Europe, you can’t check your bag until 2 hours before your flight leaves so we just hung out for awhile and enjoyed the free wifi. Since we bought a cheap “puddle jumper” flight from Venice to Rome, we flew on SAS airlines first to Copenhagen, Denmark and then to London. It wasn’t too bad and that’s the first time I flew SAS Airlines. They were good but they don’t give free soda and pretzels/cookies like in the US. Lol.
When we arrived at Heathrow, we got our luggage and contacted our friends Sue and Stuart who picked us up and took us to their house. They had cooked up an amazing meal including a delicious appetizer… it was all better than the cruise food!
We stayed up talking until 1 AM! They are big rugby fans so we even got to watch the World Cup of Rugby, and England won the consolation game to end up in 3rd place. Not bad! They have a fun day planned for us tomorrow where we’ll get to see the countryside, hang out at a classic English Pub and have dinner and visit with our other good friends Annie and Alan who we cruised with to Norway.
