Hi Guys! It’s me again. Just wanted to give a quick summary on our day in Malta. We docked at Valletta, the Capital of Malta and a UNESCO World Heritage site in itself, at 7 AM. By 8 AM we were off the boat on our excursion. We visited three different areas, Dingli Cliffs, the town of Rabat and the town of Mdina. They all were amazing!
The Dingli Cliffs reminded me of the Cliffs of Dover in Ireland. Just huge cliffs with incredible views. Just breathtaking.
The town of Rabat had an underground system of tunnels which were the St Paul Catacombs. We toured it and almost got lost it was so detailed!
The town of Mdina was the highlight of our excursion. It is a walled city with only 3 doors in or out. As you can see in the pictures, it is a very medieval looking city with amazing architecture. Lots of Game of Thrones scenes were filmed here as well as other famous films like Troy, Gladiator, the Count of Monte Cristo, The Da Vinci Code and many more. Mdina Gate, the main gate we walked thru, is first seen in Game of Thrones Season 1, Episode 3 (Lord Snow). Lady Catelyn Stark rides into King’s Landing along with Ser Rodrick Cassel in the hopes of finding her husband, Ned Stark. That tidbit was for all you GOT fans!
After the excursion we got back on the ship and had lunch (yes, I had lobster again!). We then walked into the town of Valletta. It too is this amazing medieval city with cool architecture.
After that we had a nice dinner, saw the show and played some slots.
Like I said before, We LOVED Malta!!
