Hi again gang! Well the Italian Wanderer can’t stay home too long (darn wanderlust!) so I’m heading back to one of my favorite places, Alaska! The glaciers, the whales, the scenery, etc., it’s just amazing! But this trip I’m going solo. Poor Kathy had to work and couldn’t get away. But her and I will be back cruising in October to the Mediterranean!
So I couldn’t pass this trip up since the price was so low! And with the airfare being free, it was really a cheap getaway! I’ll be doing a 7 day cruise from Anchorage to Vancouver. It does take awhile to get to Anchorage but it’s worth it. I flew Charlotte to Chicago to Anchorage. Both flights went well and I had no problem getting a standby seat. On the long flight from Chicago to Anchorage I even got a row by myself! I flew in the day before the cruise to be safe so once I got to Anchorage I took an Uber to an AirBnB about 10 mins from the airport.
The AirBnB was nice and I’ll take an Uber back to the airport Sunday morning to get a bus down to the cruise pier. The cruise actually starts in the town of Whittier but the bus I booked takes me there as well as to a wildlife center along the way. Should be fun.

PS: I’ve been to Alaska many times but always sailed north on a cruise ship from Seattle or Vancouver. I’ve never flown over the state. The beauty and majesty of the snow capped mountains and glaciers was breathtaking. The attached pictures are what draw me back to Alaska!
