Hi Gang! Today we had a nice lazy sea day. And our good weather streak was half and half. The first part of the day was nice but later it got cloudy and rainy but it ended up partly sunny at night. Yes, it does stay light until close to Midnight!
We had breakfast delivered and watched the lecture on “Whales and Dolphins in the Arctic” on the TV in our room. Funny thing happened that half way thru the lecture, the captain announced a whale spotting in front of us so everyone left the auditorium and ran outside to see the whales! I could see them but they were too far away from the boat to get a good picture.
After that the ship had a big BBQ lunch on the top deck with lots of good food. We then played Name That Tune with the people we had won Trivia with the other day but we did terrible. The songs were all Disney songs and we were all too old to remember them! Lol
We then had dinner, which was Japanese themed, and was really good. We went to the show which was hilarious. The Cruise Director Simon did an Elvis impersonation and sang all Elvis tunes. It was a hoot!
We ended the night listening to Chase on the piano. Tomorrow we’re on to the port of Hammerfest!
PS: I didn’t take many pictures today, it being a sea day, but Kozmo, the bartender from the Observation Lounge, shared several pics of Polar Bears and Walruses that he took from our ship on the cruise right before us. So we’re hoping this Thursday and Friday, when we’re doing our last two expedition days in Svalbard, that we’ll get to see them in person. Fingers crossed!
