Alaska – Day 4 – Ketchikan – Pics Part 1!

Friday July 14, 2023

Hi Folks! Our lucky streak continues (minus my fall yesterday!). Today we docked in Ketchikan, the rain Capitol of the World, and we had gorgeous sunny weather with no rain! We are truly blessed!

We docked at 7 AM and had an excursion that left around 12:30 so we had a leisurely morning. We got off the ship about 10:30, did a little shopping (yep, had to get the grandkids more Alaska stuff!). Then we jumped back on the ship to gather our things and go on the excursion.

It was a really good trip. They first bussed us to a small little dock where we boarded a boat to take us across this beautiful lake to a lodge in the middle of nowhere. We saw a bald eagle watching over its nest in one of the tall trees and also saw some harbor seals along the shore line. The scenery was just spectacular. Now I know why they call it God’s Country!

Once we got to the lodge, we did a 20 minute nature walk thru this really cool rainforest. Then had this amazing seafood feast where they covered all the tables with newspaper and just dumped “the boil” of food on the table and we all just dug in. The Alaskan King Crab they had with drawn butter was some of the sweetest we’ve ever had. Move over lobster!!

We rode the boat back and boarded the ship. Took a quick siesta and got ready for the evening. Since we were pretty full from the seafood feast, we just ordered a few things for room service and headed off to the show.

The show once again was excellent. It was called World Rhythms and they sang songs from around the world and even sang them in each country’s language. Very impressive!

After that we did Name That Tune with our favorite piano player Nano and got 14 out of 15 and came in 2nd place! Woo Hoo!!

Tomorrow we’re in Juneau, the Capitol of Alaska! Hope everyone had a great Friday!
